Mona Kattan, the co-founder of Huda Beauty and founder of KAYALI perfumes, is happily married to her husband, Hassan Elamin.

Their love story was revealed in a YouTube video, titled ‘Get To Know My Fiancé, Hassan!’ in which Mona reflected on how they first met. 

Mona and Elamin’s sister went to the same university, the American University of Sharjah, and the pair crossed paths for the first time in 2003 when he went to the university with his sister.

The pair connected on Facebook, with Elamin messaging her first, but Mona kind of blew him off. Although initially just friends, Mona candidly admitted having a crush on him when she first saw him. 

In November 2020, Kattan inquired about the relationship status of Elamin through one of their mutual friends. The pair reconnected and eventually went on their first date. 

However, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic started with Elamin contracted the virus and was unable to contact her for two weeks.

Elamin mentioned, “I tried to get hold of her again for maybe two weeks and she blew me off. But, we started to go out properly in January.”

Fast forward to May 2021, the friends-turned-lovers officially began dating and went Instagram official by sharing several pictures of them writing, “My FAV Gift is You.”

Elamin expressed, “Everything. She is the most beautiful, intelligent, and kindest woman I’ve ever seen,” in response to what he finds attractive about Mona.

On December 4, 2021, Mona shared the delightful news on Instagram, flaunting her sparkling diamond ring. Elamin had intended to pop the question at a weekend dessert get-away with the two surrounded by roses, but the plan fell through when Kattan became unwell. As they were dancing together right before bed, he eventually asked her to marry him. 

The couple wasted no time in planning their dream wedding, and on February 22, 2022, Mona and Hassan embarked on a week-long celebration of their wedding. 

The first wedding ceremony, held in a small circle, witnessed the exchange of heartfelt vows between the couple. Following this intimate affair, the duo hosted a grander celebration at a more extravagant venue, extending the invitation to a larger circle of loved ones.

Elamin graduated with a degree in MS Insurance and Risk Management from Bayes Business School in London. 

His career began as an account executive, and has since been elevated to the position of Head of Facultative, overseeing operations in the Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye at Aon Reinsurance Solutions. 

Beyond his corporate endeavors, Elamin is a crypto enthusiast and also has a passion for fitness and fashion. 

Additionally, Elamin shares a close bond with his siblings, Sally Elamin and Ahmed Elamin. The trio hinted at the launch of their fashion brand called Elamins through their joint Instagram account, as per Grazia Magazine.

Notably, in celebration of their wedding anniversary, Hassan and Mona introduced two new fragrances, named The Wedding, under their brand KAYALI perfumes. 

In an exclusive interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she expressed that every spray of the perfume instantly transports her back to the most extraordinary day of her life, her wedding.

Mona Kattan’s thoughts on children

In a recent Q&A video titled ‘Kids, Marriage, Dubai Bling & More,’ shared on May 2023, Mona opened up about her thoughts on having children. 

When a fan inquired about her desire to start a family and the number of children she envisioned having, Mona candidly shared that when she was younger, she desired a large family, having six or more children.

However, as time passed and she gained more life experience, her perspective shifted. She revealed that, contrary to the expectation of growing more confident with age, she found herself feeling more anxious about the prospect of having children. 

She shared that she now envisions having one or two children, aligning with her husband’s preferences as well.
